Royal Endeavors – Comillas

Processed with VSCO with g8 preset

Ladies and gentlemen,

As the Royal Endeavors travel adventures in Basque Country appear to be slowly coming to an end, I would like to welcome you to this very special edition, exclusively dedicated to the lovely coastal town hosting our 7 nights residence – the wonderful Comillas, one of the most beautiful towns in Cantabria, located at about 50km west of Santander, elegantly highlighted by its cobbled streets, open squares, picturesque beaches, historic buildings and a fine selection of Modernista residences, including the incredible El Capricho summer vila designed by Antoni Gaudí.

If you are wondering about the unusual Catalan Modernism touch of the town as compared to its surroundings, that is due to the emigrants who came back from America with a different architectural vision. Amongst these was the future Marquis of Comillas, who was rewarded this title for his valuable support in the Cuban conflict. He comissioned the majestic Neo-Gothic Sobrellano Palace, where you can admire Gaudí furniture as well, and its chapel – is now the Museum of the Marquises. Moreover, his son build the Pontifical University, which he offered to the pope, gaining the pontifical title in return.

We will start our short tour by introducing the mesmerizing El Capricho, the 19th-century Gaudí-designed chalet with its Mudejar-style tower covered in sunflower tiles, that became the centre of my interest as soon as we could enjoy some spare time to invest in local sightseeing. Don’t get me wrong but each day was dedicated to an organized visit to the representative cities of Basque City therefore leisure time to explore Comillas was rather short. The truth is we couldn’t have had a better residence than this lovely little town with its fascinating tourist attractions – so many architectural masterpieces concentrated in such a symbolic place!

Royal Endeavors – Bilbao and Santillana Del Mar

My darlings,

It is so good to be back on track by having the uplifted, creative mood just in time to deliver the next Royal Endeavors travel episode at a relatively fast pace, highering the standards on my blog to the now optimal frequency of posting to twice a week.

I have so many great memories in Basque Country, not to mention brilliant pics taken in the time pressuring conditions of organized tours and strict timelines, that I really take my time now in having the best mood possible in order to deliver greatness and also plenty of spare time to invest in writing and editing the material in order for my experience to be conveyed properly.

This royal episode is dedicated to the delightful Bilbao and its fabulous tourist attractions, although I will only stick with the ones I had the pleasure of visiting during those few hours we had available to enjoy ourselves in this remarkable city. Of course, depending on the duration of your stay in Bilbao, you will have many more amazing opportunities to connect to its sparkling vibe and contageous positivity or to enjoy its very tempting offerings.

We will start the marvelous journey with the Santiago Cathedral in the District of Casco Viejo, whose construction began in 1397 until the beginning of the 16th century and underwent a profound reconstruction in the 19th century. This was the first attraction that involved free time allowed by the guide to get the pulse of the surroundings, which I personally invested in visiting it, as you probably already have noticed by now how much I enjoy the solemn (neo)gothic decor, the graceful quietness and the faithful resistence of such majestic temples throughout history.

Royal Endeavors – St Andrews

9406873E-CBD2-4DF6-A754-708DC4602174Ladies and Gentlemen,

This post is exclusively dedicated to St Andrews, a chic seaside town northeast of Edinburgh, on Scotland’s east coast.
It’s known for its many golf courses, including the Old Course, with the landmark Swilcan Bridge at the 18th hole, the British Golf Museum which chronicles the history of U.K. golf, the ruins of St. Andrews Castle with its medieval bottle dungeon, located on a headland nearby and the University of St. Andrews, founded in 1413.
There’s gothic romance floating in the air and it’s attractively odd, but maybe it is not the most suitable for the ones who don’t like students or golf.
For me, it was the cherry on top.

St Andrews has the loveliest atmosphere I have experienced in Scotland.
It is not only due to the fact Prince William met Kate Middleton in the most relatable way possible at the cosy North Point Cafe.
It must because of the great memories I instantly made when reaching this wonderful place. The very moment our group left the coach at the designated meeting point, a symphonic orchestra was preparing for a recital.
They already had a few spectators resting on benches and they were just about to begin.
The delightful fact is the conductor had the brilliant inspiration to make my day glorious and, out of the sudden, he paused his manoeuvre and waited for us to reach the top of the hill in order for the recital to commance.

#PrincessaPetra x #HazelTheOwl Matching Prints in Edinburgh

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Following the saying the most sacred promises are the ones we make to ourselves, I promised myself I would invest more time and attention in carefully completing the spiritual story-telling sessions about my adventures in Scotland in order to make room for the future to unfold itself gracefully.

This enlightening blog post is dedicated to the wonderful Edinburgh, Scotland’s brighting crown jewel and a fortunate series of marvelous events which happened on my name anniversary, on Saint Peter and Paul Feast, the 29th of July – one of the best days of my life!
Thanks to a profoundly divine synchronicity and an unexpected change of plans from our travel agency, we had reached this fascinating city instead, and I couldn’t be more grateful – it was a truly fabulous day – felt like I was God’s favorite!!!

Edinburgh is Scotland’s compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.

Edinburgh is an effortlessly cohesive reflection of Scotland’s breathtaking rural landscape, flaunting cultural vibrancy, historic charm, and scenic wonder. Even its New Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Royal Endeavors – Inveraray Castle

C38E68A0-180E-4F53-B77C-D7F1EF0C449C
PrincessaPetra x #BeKindForReal #TheSun Exclusively @ Inveraray Castle

Hello, sweethearts!!! 👑

Welcome back to another splendid Royal Endeavors episode regarding my fabulous adventures in Scotland, dedicated to the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell and the iconic, must-see visitor attraction on the West Coast of Scotland – the one and only marvelous Inveraray Castle.

Inveraray Castle has been the seat of the Dukes of Argyll, chiefs of Clan Campbell, since the 18th century. A visit to this Gothic revival style country house gives an incredible insight into the history of the Campbells, once the most powerful clan in the Highlands. There’s amazing art everywhere, from the displays of Campbell family portraits through history to the lavishly painted interiors. You’ll see work by Thomas Gainsborough, John Hoppner and French artists Girard and Guinard, whose only work survives at Inveraray.

Perhaps it was the French artistic touch and the baroque glamour of the interiors, the exquisite china and Highland ghost stories that fascinated me instantly when stepping into the extravaganza of this Royal residence, but that is not surprising at all considering the fact I was only surrounded by Art and Beauty. No wonder this envy-inducing castle has been selected as one of the 10 magnificent castles to explore in the old country of Scotland by CNN, precisely on National Tartan Day.

He had gone extra miles to ensure I am treated royally and moreover, he had fully handled all my expenses related to this fabulous weekend, from flight, fancy dinners, to the Prince’s Street accommodation, Uber rides and, nevertheless, the rented shiny silver Benz. Honestly, this is how he rolls and I am grateful to have been his VIP birthday guest.
