My dear audience,

I am pleased to delight you with a freshly pressed spectacular Royal Endeavors traveling episode, this time dedicated to Biarritz, a fancy coastal city located on the Bay of Biscay (Atlantic coast), which lies south-west to France, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of the Aquitaine territory, a few miles from the border of Spain. Considering I only spent a few hours enjoying this seaside marvel, I will keep my words witty and my speech rather short this time, yet rich in details, as always.

My visit to Biarritz was part of a designated day trip including San Sebastian, which will be the main subject of a separate blog post shortly, given the totally different moods and weather conditions we experienced on the same day. While Biarritz was moody, cloudy, cold and therefore probably gave a false impression of stiffness, San Sebastian was bathing in the warmth of the ever glowing spring sun, making all my lovely panoramic pics possible, sprinkling joy over my pretty face. I cannot wait to share my marvelous experience with you, darlings, but meanwhile, let’s dig a few facts about Biarritz.

Off the record, the now fashionable former fishing village made famous after 1854 by Napoleon III and his Spanish empress is a bit overrated for my taste but still elegant, in the discreet, old money, French kind of way, at the opposite pole of show-off.

Visited by Queen Victoria, Edward VII, and Alfonso XIII of Spain, Biarritz began to call itself “the queen of resorts and the resort of kings.” Now being a surfing attraction definitely allows a fresh air of salty exuberance and charming youth to wrap carelessly around the contrasting valances pondered by the classy boutiques, fancy restaurants and high quality chocolate shops which I definitely recommend.
